The District Chief Executive (DCE) of Ellembelle in the Western Region, Kwasi Bonzoh has assured The Church of Pentecost that his outfit will work to ensure that the church’s initiative to improve sanitation across the country succeeds.
The initiative, according to the DCE will complement assemblies’ effort at sanitizing the environment.
The Church of Pentecost launched a nationwide campaign dubbed “My environment, my responsibility” to enhance environmental cleanliness.
According to the Nkroful District Pastor of the church, Pastor Paul Mensah, the church has had to intervene in restoring sanitary conditions in the country because “human activities in recent past have been degrading the earth God made mankind it stewards at an alarming rate that governments alone cannot solve. The church is a stakeholder and we are using this initiative to contribute our quota”.
The Nkroful District of Church of Pentecost launched its Environmental Care Campaign on May Day to commence various methods the church is adopting to protect the environment.
Speaking at the launch, the District Chief Executive of Ellembelle, Kwasi Bonzoh commended the church for the initiative and pledged the assembly’s support for it.
He stated that “Waste management is the work of the MMDAs. But to have Tohe Church of Pentecost come up with this initiative is commendable. As an assembly, we will provide all the required support needed to ensure that your environmental care campaign succeeds”.
He urged citizens to take a cursory look at how they dispose of refuse “because these little things we do to harm the environment certainly comes back to harm us, it gets us sick, and we are ourselves the losers in the end”.
Meanwhile the Ellembelle District Health Director, Dr. Mrs. Marion Okoh-Owusu who lauded the church’s initiative was enthused that the campaign was in conformity with the Sustainable Development Goal 6, target 2 and pledged the directorate’s commitment to ensuring that the initiative succeeds.
The Nkroful District Pastor Paul Mensah then inaugurated a seven-member group that will work with the various stakeholders to ensure the church’s initiative in the district succeeds.
The campaign launched was chaired and supervised by the Area Head Pastor of Axim of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Philip Korsah.
